Start a Tea Business

| Tea: It’s the world’s second most drank beverage (after water.) The kind of tea parties being held these days and the escalation of tea businesses bare no resemblance to the famous “Boston Tea Party” where tons of it was dumped into Boston Harbor by the American colonists as an act of protest against the British for the heavy taxation on imported British teas.
Today, tea businesses are on the rise. A lot of the excitement has been fueled by medical reports on the benefits of drinking tea. There are numerous niches within the billion dollar industry, and individuals with a passion for tea are starting their own businesses such as:
Tea rooms
In-home tea party hostess
Children’s tea party planner
Specialty tea shops and kiosks
Teaware (teapots, teacups & saucers and other accoutrements)
Tea magazines, books & newsletters
Tea etiquette trainers
Tea gift baskets
Tea Tours
Websites, blogs, and online courses on starting a tea business.
Throughout the centuries, drinking tea became elevated to an art form. During the Victorian era, English ladies made a habit of gathering for tea in the afternoons. Etiquette and lavish elegance were the order of the day and by the late 19th century, hotels in England and the United States had opened their own tea rooms to cater to their tea loving patrons. Today, these popular social gatherings are also common in small towns. Smaller establishments like Bread & Breakfast Inns are also providing guests with tea time with less formality.
As with any business idea, do your research. What it boils down to is getting involved in something that you love and finding your niche.
