Home Office Style: Keep it Organized
________________________________________________________________
So you've made the change from employee to entrepreneur, and home is now your official launching pad for your new career. You're excited about creating your home office environment. Afterall, this is where you will probably spend the rest of your professional existence, but all too often, homebased entrepreneurs find themselves buried in a never-ending maze of paperwork and clutter.
As you set about designing your home office, comfort and functionality should be at the top of your list. Decide where in the home you will have your office. Consider the following tips:
1) Choose comfortable furniture.
2) Make sure the area is well lit.
3) Lots of shelf space and compartments for storage.
4) File cabinet, hanging file folders, manila file folders.
5) Adequate electrical outlets to support your equipment--computer, printer, fax, etc.
6) Separate phone line for your business.
7) Desk organizer -- eliminate clutter on top of your desk.
8) A Daily Planner -- stay on top of your appointments, to do lists etc.
9) Well stocked supply of stationery (including letterhead, business cards, notepads, post-it notes, mailing labels.)
10) Supply of pens, pencils, calculator, paper clips, letter opener, scissors, tape, stapler, staple remover, highlighters, extra toner/cartridges.
Beautify your space with a lovely vase of fresh cut flowers!
