Start a Gardening Business
If you are contemplating making a business of your gardening passion, here are some neat ideas to inspire you.
Gardening Books:
Have seasonal book sales! Throw a few garden parties in the spring and summer -- Set up tables with a variety of gardening books. You might also display a small collection of planters, vases, urns etc. Shop online for wholesale prices. Coffee table books are wonderful! Display flyers in your neigborhood. Serve light refreshments at your garden book party.
Flowers:
Open a neighborhood flower shop. In addition to your everyday retail sales, you could supply small area businesses with fresh cut flowers once a week. You might even consider hiring someone to make the deliveries for you. Some taxi companies provide delivery service as well.
Gardening Accessories:
Create gift baskets of gardening tools, seeds, gloves, books, floral notecards, and other interesting objects. Consider starting a mail order business. Place classified ads for your products in the newspaper and magazines, market to realtors who might want to offer new home buyers a housewarming gift. Also, consider the benefits of setting up a website for your business.
You might also consider becoming a representative for a direct marketing company that will drop ship products to your customer. You keep a limited number of products on hand for product demonstration parties, giveaways, etc. Always do your research before investing.
Your Own Harvest
Grow your herbs and spices. Sell to local markets, or start a mail order business.
