Q & A Session with Mimi:
What was your inspiration for going into business for yourself?
I had the need to supplement my family's income but needed to be able to do this and be at home at the same time.
What do you enjoy most about running a home-based business?
The independence of being able to work when I want to and still have time to do other things I enjoy which are helping tend to the farm and keeping my 3 yr old Granddaughter.
You have an online store; what other outlets do you use to market your bags?
I sell lots of my bags from word of mouth. I also sell on ebay and just recently started selling on etsy.com
How do you come up with the designs for your wonderful creations?
My love for fabric, color, and having a vivid imagination help me to create each of my designs one at a time. Various designs have been created with the help of individual customers.
How long have you been in the sewing business?
I have over 30 years of sewing experience of working with the public...I have been sewing commerically for approximately 3 years.
What advice would you give to women who aspire to become entrepreneurs?
It takes a lot of hard work to get a business started and keep it going. Just take what you enjoy doing and be willing to work diligently to reach your goal.
Share a tip that helps you in your everyday work.
Listen to the customer, they always come first.
